but the boom is in the stock position, I'm thinking about going back to a fixed gooseneck, the sliding one is held in position now with a sailstop on each end. Last week the upper sailstop came loose and the boom started to move up the mast. I had to use the cunningham tackle to pull it back down. I found the stock boom position works fine for my sail with this bimini because I moved the block for the main halyard and use a sheave in the chicken head. Now I can get the mainsail all the way up to the top of the mast (be sure the vang is released when hauling on the halyard). I looked at old pictures of my boat and realized there was about 10" of mast not being used at the top of the mast. Now I get the sail right to the top and have not had a problem yet with the boom and the bimini.
