In Response To: Roundup problems w/ Idasailor rudder (Eric J Mac 26D)

...that most Mac Classic "weatherhelm problems", are operator induced.
1. Rudder not fully deployed. 2. Excessive mast rake. 3. Poor sail trim. 4. Overcanvassed.
Properly trimmed and canvassed, SeaQuell will round-up if I try to pusd her beyond a 45 degree heel, with the stock rudder.
If one leaves the mainsail all bagged out, the ruddger back an inch or two, the mast raked aft 10", and takes a 30 knot gust abeam, she's gonna round up; doesn't matter if you have a barn door for a rudder.
