As for ratings, we use Portsmouth and I noticed, when being race committee, that the Cal 22 had a .87 Portsmouth. The Mac26D has a rating of .93. I don't know of the top of my head what the Cal 22 is. Anway, my Mac has proven to be a little faster than its rating when everything is tuned correctly. Of course, I don't have that much stuff on my boat and that is something else that can slow you down.
My best advice is to find someone who is an experienced Mac26 sailor in your area or someone who knows fractional rigs. Hard to diagnose over the web...sorry!
