Hi Folks, I have a Venture 17 also. The keel is in the garage undergoing repairs. The fiberglass had split & water got into the wood causing swelling which made it impossible to lower the keel (than goodness it was up). I have replaced all the wood & removed all the cracked fiberglass. I framed out the missing area with tubular steel, cut & bent to fit where the wood had been. There was a small piece of wood on the leading edge of the keel which I replaced with some aluminum bar stock I had lying around. A lot of the original fiber glass in in place & I think I will leave it there as it appears solid. This has been a 'round tuit' project that I need to get around to. My son has expressed interest in the boat & sailing. Fiber glassing is next & I may reinforce the tubular steel as it is glued in place but is in very strong. Any suggestions would be welcome as any correspondence about our mutual endeavors. One question though???, where does on sail up there in the mountains in Colorado?
