Lock bolt usage

In Response To: Mac 23 Keel Lock Bolt (Bill Talbot)

I do not use the lock pin on my V25 and never used it on my old V21. I sail inland lakes and don't feel it was necessary. The keel lock bolt's purpose was to keep the keel from slamming into the hull if the boat was to capsize and turtle. I don't plan on that ever happening. Also some here will adjust the depth/rake of keel for different conditions. Where do you sail?
