I wish my first post to this forum were more upbeat, but I am posting this in the hopes that other people don't find themselves in the mess I am in.
On March 16 I put a deposit on a 26M with Kelly Hanson Marine. On April 1st they received the check I sent and it cleared my account on April 3rd, meaning they deposited it the same day. That was the last thing they did promptly.
The boat was 4 weeks late in being delivered. When it arrived it was riddled with defects. Major defects like the engine throttle cable being improperly installed so the engine wouldn't go into reverse, the steering linkage was incorrect and it wouldn't turn very far to starboard, the wiring was not just poorly done it was a fire hazard, the torsion bars incorrectly adjusted so the fenders were scraping the wheels and chafed away the side light wires. That's just the tip of the iceberg. In all the boat had over 40 defects.
Additionally several items necessary to sail the boat like the main sheet, genoa sheet and genoa cars were missing. I've been trying for a month now to get Kelly Hanson even to just send me the missing line. I spoke with Art Kelly on June 3rd and he promised me they would fix this. They sent their East Coast Sales Rep to my house on June 9th and he sent a report documenting all these problems in to them. He's a nice guy but is new to the company and it appears no one in their main office feels obligated to follow through on his attempts to rectify the problem.
The boat has been in the shop twice now. First it had to get the trailer repaired at the shop nearest my house. He isn't an authorized Evinrude dealer and couldn't work on the engine so then it had to get towed an hour away to the only Evinrude dealer in my area that could work on it. The only water it has seen is rain water since I still need to finish repairing and replacing the slipshod wiring job.

I created this website so that others can see for themselves the way Kelly Hanson shipped this boat out to me since when I first posted my complaints in a different Mac Owner's forum (one sponsored by Kelly Hanson who locked the discussion thread) Art Kelly accused me of "slander". It isn't slander if you're telling the truth. When you see some of the things that were done to my boat and the fact that Kelly Hanson has done nothing to rectify the situation you'll know why I went to all the trouble of registering a domain name and creating this web page.
If this post and my web page saves even one other person the kind of headaches I've been subject to then it will be worth the time I spent putting it together.
