Doug,
GMI was great. The bimini was great, a steal at $350 in my opinion, relative to most boat items anyway. Good quality, glad I ordered the stainless joints.
For size I think I hacked off 8 inches and mounted about as low as possible, just above the rub rail. This plus a slight bending just barely got me under my boom. One bow bent on the side slightly as I tried to bend down the middle but that was my fault (haven't gotten to bending back). I think the extra width pulled in at the bottom bows the top a bit.
So, next time I probably would order a 32" height and not cut for an hour. The 40+ height even with the cutting forced me to mount lower than ideal -some day I am going to be rafted with someone and damage the bimini side or their boat because it mounts so low. The extra width is nice for shade but a bit hard to see around with any heel. I am surprised the low height doesn't bother me significantly.
I will try to take a picture but it may not be set up. It will at least show the mounts. I am happy I bought the hinged mounts to avoid binding.
