I believe the foam was installed by the factory on the "D"

In the S versions, the flotation foam is over the V Berth in a separate compartment. I believe the D's have it under the V Berth.

When you say "refilled the tank" do you mean that you have to replace whatever leaked into the bilge? If so, it seems to me that your leak has to be further back than the V Berth. Under the V Berth the top of the tank is glassed flat across. The leak sounds like it is below the water level in the tank which would place it in the deepest part of the hull.

If you were to open the fill valve and the vent and then wait until the water stopped coming in, how far below the vent hole does the water come? Or, does the boat float on her lines? In mine, if the cockpit is loaded with people the ballast level comes right up to the top of the vent hole. It should be about 2 inches below the opening.

I still think the the dagger board trunk or a hole for a fastener are likely. Does anyone around here have first-hand knowledge of the structure around the dagger board?
