I have that on my punch list as well. Mine is kind of dry so the carpet peeled off pretty easily, however, leaving much of the glue behind. My plan was to start with a stiff brush to get off the bits and maybe progress to a wire brush if that was not working then sanding if needed being careful of the fiber glass. I figure I want most of the glue off but also not thinking that it will be perfect. Then still researching what to put in its place. If it looks nice enough maybe just some paint.

The boat was a mildew haven so my theory is to keep any permanent cloth coverings out of the boat to minimize a disaster in the future.
