in my descriptive geometry class, our professor had a few examples of items that were machined from plans. One item was a cylinder that could fit through a hole but if oil was applied to the surface, the cylinder wouldnt fit.
He said you had to be careful in the real world though. A student was told to order a cube made, one inch square, for the school. The student thought he would add four zeros to the fight side of the decimal point. He was dumbfounded when he went to pick it up and saw how much those four zeros added to the cost.
