keel trunk

Has anyone looked at the area between the hull liner and the keel trunk? I have what appears to be marinetex? filling the gap. I assume, to transmit the loads from the compression post to the keel trunk. Is that factory? Yes.......you will have to play contortionist to see it ...better yet, feel it.
