Bottom Paint

My boat needs bottom paint before I put her in the water this year. The previous owner had no clue what was put on it before...the local marina put it on. They want $300 to do the job. Is that about right or should I look at doing it myself? It will be in the slip most of the time, but I still want to trailer the boat to several lakes in Minnesota this summer. What kind of paint should I be looking at and how many gallons would I need? As far as anti-fouling, I don't need salt water protection, just inland lake slime. Is it hard to raise the boat for painting under the bunks? What about paint prep? Is it as noxious and bad as I've heard?
