I may be missing something, perhaps its the ramps I have been using - I know there is a large difference between some. I would say most are rather gentle sloping. (I can usually launch with the truck rear tires just touching the water.)
I do use pvc pipes on the stock uprights but have a connector fitting on the bottom and a round end cap at the top, with a tennis ball on top of each post. They seem to touch just the ball and the pvc can rotate.
I am impressed at Sumner's design and construction but does this more elaborate "guide" offer more than the traditional side bunks that I am using? (For about 125.00 and 45 minutes to install?) Just curious.

(I did have some interesting screw ups before I added the side bunks)
I did screw up by not buying the galvaniized model - I dint realize I was going to turn into more of a "bay" sailor.
