I think the reason for the threaded pop rivets...

is that after drilling out the old standard ones, the holes becomes too large for the new ones. It's recommended that you fill the area with epoxy and install the thread bases. Then using screws makes the connectiosn tighter and stronger than the conventional pop rivets? Anybody have any experience or insight on this? This will be my first time at repairing leaky chainplates.
