I guess that grinding out is the way to go. I think I will have a hole about 3 inches wide, tapered out to 5 or 6 inches. I looked at it again today, and it looks worse than the first time. I think I will need to put in 4 layers of mat to be sure that it is strong enough, and it will be filled down to the liner with chopped fiber and epoxy to replace the plywood. That will give a solid support down to the compression post.

Thanks for the suggestions, They all help.

I hate messing with epoxy in more than 1/4 cup size mixes, but here goes, when the rain threat is over. I don't want to get caught half done on this kind of project.
