I looked at the Richardson book, it says "not to be used for navigation", also if I remember the charts are all one color, gray I think. I don't know if the CG would consider these to be the required paper charts on board. The Richardson book also has a lot of good information other than the charts. I saw the Trak marine charts for the NC at the Toronto boat show and I am going to order a set. They look very good, are printed on plastic, are in a booklet format that suits itself to use on a smaller boat like ours better than the government charts do. The Trak web site really sucks but it looks like a great chart solution to me, we spent more on 3 government charts last summer.
I use the Garmin Map76Cx, we bought it for just over $200 Can. last fathers day, I like the charts they use and all the other features. It replaced a Map76 that is now our backup GPS so all the accessories fit the new one too.
Watermark, Sherry, Angus and I will be there with the TSA the last 2 weeks of July.
