(Mike "Mikabee" Mac26s Victoria, Tx) but I wanted an electric start and the 8 hp Nissan was the smallest for an electric start. And...the 8 was exactly the same size as the 9.8, so I went for the higher horsepower. If I installed it on an outboard bracket beyond the transome, I would get a greater turning radius, but the tiller would be too far away to operate without sitting on the front of the well.
