Either the 8HP or the 9.9HP Yamahas come in a super-long shaft version (25" IIRC) with optional elec start, elec tilt, or elec tilt & trim. This is specifically a sailboat or trawler engine with different gearing and a very different prop.

Works Great!

The only controls that are not on the handle are the electric start button and the choke control. Both are still easily reachable even when the engine is mounted back on a bracket. Also, back on a bracket, engine steering is easy.

On an earlier engine, the wife couldn't even come close to getting the engine up or down, or getting it started. Heck, I very nearly went into the drink a couple of times.

With this one, it really is as easy as pushing buttons. (Besides, you get to see the looks of envy from the other guys.)
