Paul, cangratulations on your new 26S, I know you'll love it. I too have a 91' 26S, with a factory installed mast raising system. I just went out and messure it.
The gin pole is 6ft. long. The strap attachment points on the mast are 5ft. up from the base of the mast. The strap attachment points on the deck are approx. 3 inches forward of the mast tabernacle, and 6 1/2 inches inboard from that ridge that runs along near the stations. Mine has a strap on the foredeck, 6 inches back from the bow cleat. But I use the bow cleat to attach the tackle. The owners manual shows using the bow cleat. Plus I checked mine for re-inforcement underneath, and the strap only has small washers as backing, bigger washers on the bow cleat, so until I re-inforce both, I'll use the cleat.
As for the length of the babystays. When the mast is still laying in the crutch, and fastened in the tabernacle, the stays should be pretty tight. As it is raised they loosen up. I leave my stays on all the time.
