None of the covers were stiff. Not sure how that happened unless there was a problem with someone cleaning them with the wrong stuff.
I think it was Scott that noted that MacGregor seems to use the "monthly low bid" approach to cushions. We must have gotten lucky on that score. Our cushions ARE too soft, and the settee cushions are a bit "broken in", but otherwise are OK.
The berth cushions (fore and aft) are really not bad, so I was able to add some viscoelastic and get serious comfort in the aft berth. I experimented with Wally World's 1.5 inch 2.5 LB stuff and we really enjoyed it, so I ordered some 2 inch, 4.2 Lb stuff (Serta), King size, and did some cut and trim, then put a modified king mattress cover over that. (Slimmed down the aft end and made, and trimmed, around the rectangle inset for the ladder. The end result is really nice!
For the settees, I've completely changed everything so that we now have a series of hinged top openings. The idea is that you can sit on a settee and open the one next to you without even removing the cushion! Also, it gives us some totally DRY storage. One of those sections has a cutout for the cooler, so we'll have easy access to the cooler, get it off the cabin sole, and still retain the ability to convert back to a full-length berth if we need it. So, I cut the old settee seat cushions and put "end caps" on them so that each section has its own seat cushion.
The seat cushions are a bit broken down and worn, but I'm doing a LOT of mods right now and wanted to put off the expense (and work) of new cushions. Also, this lets me experiment with the arrangement and make sure it works, find issues, etc BEFORE we get/make new cushions (which we WILL do eventually).
