My lazarette has a 2 x 4 at the forward bulkhead and a 1 x 2 about 2' behind, both cut to fit the bottom contour. The floor itself is 1/2" exterior plywood. As I built it, I made provision to bolt down an 18 gallon gas tank. I also drilled some 1" holes through the plywood for ventilation. I made space for a bilge pump at the forward end, but have not put one in, since I have not had any water accumulate in the lazarette so far. The whole works was given a layer of fiberglass for waterproofing. The gas tank has an external fill and vent. I have the required two vents and a blower. The rest of the lazarette holds 2 buckets with anchors and rodes, 5 fenders, a hand pump, and plenty of room for more junk I have not yet determined that I need. Racks across the transom and down the starboard side of the laz have hooks for several sets of dock lines and miscellaneous lines.
