Not sure if reversing engine / ladder is easier in/out, BUT...

In Response To: rear anchor roller (pic) (MrBill_26D_fll)

I currently use the motor well as storage for a stern anchor and rode.

Works pretty well except that I get concerned, and exert some extra effort, since the rode is so close to the engine (prop ) when I drop anchor and head for shore.

Putting the engine on the stbd side would remove the problem. Then, I could also build a platform over the former motor well, under which would be anchor rode storage and on which would be an anchor roller, probably identical to the one I use on the bow.

Admittedly, I haven't thought it through yet, but I do plan to plan and maybe mock it up to see how it would go.

With the super-long-shaft engine I have, at worst case, I'd be back to the prop pitching out of the water occasionally, whereas now, it NEVER pitches out. So, now that I am "finished" with a bunch of projects, I guess its time to plan another.

Nonetheless, thanks for that flash of insight!
