Earlier this year, I had posted some pictures of another "crazy" Mac project and now have a couple of final pictures.
I needed a spare outboard for my 26S in order to comfortably go way back into very remote areas of Lake Powell where you cant sail out of. I already had a 4 hp short shaft so that influenced what I did (the short shaft wont work on the stock 26S transom - the water pump inlet would be right at water level which I think would be asking for trouble).
I permanently added to the starboard transom under the ladder some heavy aluminum angle. Ive seen another 26C which was soft back there from the ladder so I sort of like the idea of beefing that area up regardless. Normally, the angle is out of the way under the swim ladder.
I made a motor bracket from AL and wood which bolts on (4 bolts). Not easy to bolt on but its only needed if the main outboard dies. I plan to "stash" both the bracket and the spare outboard inside the Laz for the trip. This motor weighs about 60 pounds to is going to be a pain in the axx to get on but not impossible (it will have to be done on the water..).
Note - this is compliance with the unwritten rule that every Mac MUST be different from every other Mac..
