Jerry we had local daytime highs around 70, but the water temp was 47-50 according to the fish finder, so the temp on the water was cooler than 70. Night time lows were suppose to be 32-34 and there was ice on the dog water in the cockpit one morning.
The inside temps in the cabin were really nice though and not bad and we didn't do any heating with the stove or try anything else. The boat is so tight compared to my teardrop trailer that no wind enters, so there is no heat loss that way. We of course slept in the....
........... expanded v-berth and I have a feeling that since it is higher and more closed in than the aft berth it most likely is 4-5 degrees warmer. Other than sheets we had 2 other blankets and a comforter on the bed and we were warm, in fact a little too warm when going to bed, but good later on. Of course you don't feel like crawling out from under those covers in the middle of the night to go to the head, but it isn't that bad. We were going to wait and go out when it was in the 40's at night and it would have been that if we would have made it to Lake Powell, but now I'm glad we went out with the cooler nights as we found out it wasn't bad at all.
Like Bob we were beat and in bed by 9 at night, but unlike him we slept in until 8 or so when the sun started hitting the boat and it warmed up fast and we almost immediately had the hatch open. I'd say if someone went out with the lows in the mid 40's it wouldn't be bad at all and we would go back out in similar temps to what we had this time in a heart beat and I don't like cold weather anymore.
I talked Ruth into kind of covering the extended camping/sailing thing from her point of veiw which might be of interest to your wife. You will find that post here.....
