........only on the backstay when the sail was down, well there was the one time I started to raise the sail and had it about 1/3 up and realized it was still on the backstay and I did a quick little dance back there and unhooked it.
I did get the items to make a topping lift and hope to add it before we go out again and will then use that even at anchor instead of the backstay, or at least that is the plan.
My big worry is our bimini came in while we were out and it is a 30-36 inch and when the sail was up it just seemed that even 30 inches was going to get into the boom. We are running down to Phoenix to get a used '99 Suburban that I found pretty cheap, (do the costs never end) as I was spoiled using the pickup the other day. When we get back I'm going to put the mast/boom/main sail up and see about the bimini. Our boat has exactly the same pushpit and life lines as Walts and when I look at how high his bimini is above the life lines I think on ours the boom would hit it with the sail up. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I have the sail pulled back on the boom as far as it will to and have the sail pulled up the mast as far as it will go. If when I rig it next week I still have a problem I'll post pictures for suggestions.
Thanks for keeping an eye on us, we need it ,
