Hi Sum,
When you clean the carb, make sure you unscrew the plug that will allow you to blow thru the idle circuit(on the carb...'bout a 1/4" in dia.). It is an easy one to miss. I have an older Honda 7.5 (80's vintage I believe) but basically the same motor. I was having trouble with it until I cleaned that passage out. Granted we are at sea level, but you should be able to get it to start and idle well.(full power at 7000' without a jet change might be a different story.) These Hondas will run at unbelievable low rpms when udjusted properly. I use the same starting technique as previously posted.....choke full on....a pull maybe two til she pops....choke off....usually starts on next pull. I love this little motor cause it runs so well.
Fair winds, J
