In Response To: A different CDI question....line this time... (link) (pic) (Sumner & Ruth)

I purchased 40 feet and trimmed off about 6 feet. About 3 months ago, so I only have about 4 or 5 sailings with it to date. Chose red color - - a great help for crew directions since it is the only red line on board.

- wish I had trimmed about 2 feet less (wind conditions make a huge difference in how tightly the sail is furled .... thus ... the number of turns needed).

- still having some issues at times with the drum getting full before the sail is all the way out. And then going forward to "re-drum" the line just right so I can get the sail all the way unfurled.

- didn't want to go smaller than 1/4 inch to keep the line handy in the hands.

- taking out a portion of the line core in the forward end ..... sounds like a great idea.

One nice thing about our boats - - when it's on the trailer, all of this line is readily available to play with ....

The best of luck to you, Sum.
