well said jason. until one gets in the boat (or gets their craft outsailed by the boat) the abilities of the wee M15 are thought to be overstated by doubters.
the 15 loves a breeze ... like the 17 and 23. the sweet spot, IMO, for the 15 is between 10 and 15 knots with full sail. she does equally well 13-18 with a single reef main. go to a double reef and one feels confident at 20 kts. she will 'scream' in these conditions and catch other boats by surprise as she doesn't give an inch (see picture of SCRED below ... i'm giving 'chase' to M23 DAUNTLESS). she is a dry boat and cuts through the sea ... no excessive pounding (ie, M15's don't do this - pounding potter). she is 'comfortable', 'in her element', a well crafted sailboat.
my perspective comes mainly from single-handing SCRED. those times i've sailed with two in the cockpit confidence just increases ... you have double the movable ballast and can carry more sail .. add a few, or more, knots to the above for 2-person sailing. the 'pucker factor' is up to you - M15 named SIX
the 15 is not just a heavy weather boat. in a light breeze she will zip along in the slightest cat's paw overtaking larger boats. the 15 will give a 17 a run in light conditions as the 17s 3x greater weight handicaps the longer enough to make the 15 & 17 fairly equal in a light breeze.
