With all the posts about Centerboard and rudder problems, I am glad I have one of the origonal M17s with the cast iron keel. I understand that Jerry only built 20 of this model. The boat does draw 39 inches but the rudder is no deeper than the keel and the large iron bulb is stout enough to take grounding without damage. The boat is still undergoing refitting after 15 years on the hard but here is a picture of her prior to the refurb (rust and all). Ron
