Who else carries a smaller head sail for a Monty 15, The wonderful Dr Judy B has built me a 128 for my Monty as she is a Hyde sails guru. When I owned my Precision 21 I carried three head sails built by Ullman Sails out of their Sarasota Loft as that sail loft raced Precisions and since it was the home base of Precision the guy knew their boats inside out. I carried a storm jib, 110 and 135 and if its was blowing stink when we left the dock we defaulted to the storm jib and sailed out with reefed main, but mostly we carried the 135 to around 15 knots and the 110 thereafter and the reefed the main with any more heeling if we had too. The issue with the Precision was rudder cavitation if we heeled to far so we were faster if we just took sail down.
I have visions of similar scenarios with the Monty 15 EXCEPT the foredeck does not lend itself to going forward and doing head sail changes in heavy weather. Just interested in what you guys do. And BTW the need for a smaller head sail is I am planning on solo sailing alot down the road too. And please save the answers about a roller furlers, NOT MY thing, sorry
