Catsailor,
Your boat builder should have the dimensions.
One of the more commonly visited websites for sail dimensions -
http://www.sailritesails.com/ShowAd.aspx?id=4572&SourceID=%200%20&BoatName=MONTGOMERY+15
What you get when you send your old sails in for measurements is - shrunken (usually) and stretched pattern to be used to build your NEW sail - ?? Not a professional way to 'design' a sail.
Dimensions are available from builders, and sites like Sailrite -
How about spending our money with LOCAL USA companies - not an agent for an offshore organization that promises the moon and delivers 'pie', but a real company located in the US ? Consider it for our friends in the sailmaking business. The local sailmakers and their families will appreciate the business.
This sailmaker of choice question seems like the age old Ford/Chevy arguments - I for one spend my money on sails with companies that employ workers in the USA.
I have never seen or heard so much BS about sails - types (racer boy, Ullman/North spec. (?), whacky trim ideas), leftover old used and cheap sails, etc., as on this site.
Kinda fun, :>) and we will learn from it too!
Have fun - think about who and where you are sending your money when you buy your sails.
Caveat Emptor - Res Ipsa Loquitor
Have Fun, Go sail !
G.O.
