As an ex-Prindle 16 catamaran racer I can say beyond a shadow of doubt that my racing days with Prindle fleet 25 from the Annapolis MD. were some if not the best sailing days of my life. Racing taught me how to sail a boat from point A to B in the fastest manner. I did my share of sailing in B fleet and earned my way up to A fleet. It's when I got to A fleet that is became less fun cause lets face it, the competition got much better and the ARMS Race was equally as stiff, Racing sails, Carbon fiber rudders, spinnakes etc. became your weapons of necessity. Heck I even outfitted my 16 ft cat with a Smyth spinnaker, a total waste of money cause we never had reaching legs long enough to hoist it and then deal with dousing it. But boy in one long distance race we left our competition behind finished top 3 just to handicap out of the medals due to the stiff penality of carry a chute on board. It's maybe echoing the sentiments here why I love my Monty 15 and its simplicity and speed without adding un-necessary go fast goodies. The only really cool item I just added was a Thermos soft case cooler that fits really nicely in the stern and it has two compartments, one for sodas and one for sandwiches.....now thats what I call an accessory of need.
Boy I love this boat
