When I was in school, I had a part time job as a flunkie sweeping floors and stuff in the Hydrodynamics Lab's model shop. What a pleasant environment! (except on the days where they were painting the models with knock-you-flat rubberized paint) The smell of freshly sawn wood (pine, in my case), the hum of a bandsaw, the scrape scrape scraping of a spokeshave in the hands of their master modelmaker, Ernie Onis, as he whipped out a close-tolerance scale model of some ship or barge or boat.
No doubt, my grades suffered for all the time I spent hanging around there.
