Porta-Potti

I see that I have about an 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" cut out in the v-berth on the starboard side that a porta-potti is meant to occupy. Is this a storage spot only, or is it meant to be used while in this spot?

All the units I have seen so far have a slide in the front that must be used while in operation, and I don't see how you would do that while the porta-potti was in that spot. It seems it would be too tight to opereate.

My wife has moved this up to the top of the list of things to resolve. Any help here will improve my odds of keeping my wife involved in sailing.

Thanks in advance.
