Why not a small boat furler?

I have heard that the CDI furler is a very nice product but for a small trailerable boat it sure looks complex.

Why not a Harken 435 ($190)or Schaefer system 350 ($260) small boat furler? They require a wire luff in the sail and merely wrap the sail around it's own luff. They are elegantly simple and the sail can be stowed in the sail bag while trailering.

Any furler you install will require some sail alterations.
