Fixed Radio Location?

I’m getting ready to install a Uniden fixed mount radio in the cabin with a wireless remote for the cockpit. Looking for any suggestions/opinions on locating the radio inside the cabin. Most installations I have seen are inside on the cabin bulkhead for ease of access from the cockpit.

Since the radio can be controlled from the cockpit with the wireless hand held I am considering locating the radio in front of the compression post to keep the coax/power lines shorter and not have to route them across the cabin.

Has anyone done this, is it a real “headknocker?” Any other ideas or opinions?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Captain Howie
