Hi Eric, Good luck with your deliberations. I can tell you that the M-15 is not too small for you. I'm 6'4" and 205 lbs. The cockpit is fine. My wife and I have done an overnight together without any problems. There is plenty of room in the cabin for laying around; however, sitting down below is a problem. As veteran backpackers we don't find the size limitations unacceptable. I saw someone describe sleeping on the M-15 like sleeping in a two-man backpacking tent - very true. It sails like a dream, very balanced. A better sailing craft than my 88' Catalina 22.

I'll leave descriptions of the M-17 to others as I've never seen one in person, although I understand they are great boats. After my Catalina, my criteria for the M-15 were 1) quality construction and seaworthiness, 2) ease of storage and maintenance, and 3) cost. Hard to beat the M-15 dollar for dollar on those grounds. She tucks into my garage nicely.

Best of luck to you!
