I've sailed and slept aboard both the 15 and the 17

In Response To: Montgomery 15 or Montgomery 17 (Eric)

and in my opinion, here are some differing attributes of the boats:

15:
more likely to fit in your garage
lighter for trailering (smaller tow vehicle, better mileage)
easier, lighter setup
slightly nicer bunk (once laying down)
kickup rudder standard
commonly used w/ Honda 2hp, very light to carry

17:
more of a "big boat" feel. Can walk the side decks without too much rolling. (helps w/ self steering too)
more room in the cabin for a couple (sitting headroom)
more comfortable cockpit
more storage room throughout
