Question on new pacific trailer

Report: outside forum guidelines

After unrigging Grace after her first sail I noticed I could back the extending hitch in one more set of holes than it was origionally set to. The only problem is the holes don't quite line up. (Probably why it wasn't in those holes in the first place) I think by backing the hitch in 8 more inches I could reduce the tongue weight a bit, and my turning radius as well. (I'll attach a driveway pic and you'll see how long the tongue is.) However, I'd have to hog out a hole with a dremel or drill. Will this remove the galvanised surface and lead to rust? I'd like to avoid that. I know of an O'day 19 that's rusty trailer causes it's owner nightmares! Thanks to this board in advance for any assistance! Mitch
