In Response To: ballast (Pat Russo)

The Newpot 17 has both foam (yes..those sloopy pieces) as well as concrete ballast. Check out this link: ttp://web.utk.edu/~pdf/newport/newport/newport.htm It shows scans of the original rigging instructions.

I've sailed my Newport 17 for two seasons, it sitshigh out of the water and the boat body is nearly a sail in itself !!

I am hoping to replace the sails this season, does anyone have old sails or a perferred provider, idea of cost etc.?? I have a leak, I think along the swing keel. I installed a bilge pump and solar panel. The panel keeps the battery charged enough to run the pump and the electtic motor.

I also need to replace the traveler. Again any help is welcome. I agree, crawling into those compartments is a bit too confinding !
