Mast problems

Report: outside forum guidelines

Well, the first time in my 1974 Newport since I bought it and oh boy. The top of the cuddy, under the tabernacle gave way and collapsed about an inch breaking the fiberglass. I was able to keep the mast up and it did not come down, but now I have opened the glass to reveal, not a piece of support wood, but of sponge. I have removed the rotted wood and now am dealing with, "do I do it myself, or have a real fiberglass pro do it?". Anyone with advise at this point?
