I use a 12v (Bill Dance?) trolling motor also. I use a single size 29 battery in a box on the bottom floor of the cutty (right in front of the centerboard pivot). It's a good location because it's low and center. I use good thick jumper cables to run it back to an Attwood trolling motor connection.

I use a solar array to charge the system, and I have the output of the solar system with the same plug as the motor. (Unplug the motor, plug in the charger.)

My motor is about 50 lbs, and it does well enough. You're going to be in trouble if trying to bump a 20mph headwind or significant current. Other than that, it works great. WAY better than a dirty, smelly, awkward, unreliable outboard.
