Here are pictures of my pop top. It is kept closed with wing nuts on each side. when open there is a brace on the forward metal support that keeps it from swinging further forward. Also the front rests against the mast. I don't really open it unless I'm at the dock and haven't developed a way to keep it from slamming closed, i'm just really careful... except for that one time it slammed on my head.
