Surprise Rigging

On the boom there should be a cleat on the Starboard side the line should run from the clew through the eye then to the cleat.I think you are missing a block that attaches to the hanging strap with the half inch hole.My boat is rigged like this , Tie off to the back of the boom (either on the top of the block or a clevis (mine attaches to an eye that I installed on the back of my Boom),then run down to the port side block at the back of the transom, then over to the starboard side block,and up to the block at the back of the boom, and to the block halfway down the boom, and from there to a block at the back of the centerboard trunk.I installed the eye because the bolt that held the strap had broken so I replaced it with an eye bolt to give me somewhere to attach a topping lift wich is really nice not to have the boom crash down on the transom every time you lower the sail.
