I painted mine last spring when I painted the hull and am really glad I did. Mine was painted a medium "battleship" grey. it looked nasty and showed all the scratches from the rigging/handling. I sanded down to bare aluminium and sprayed it with a spray can. I took a chance on Krylon's "aluminium" color. It really paid off! It's so close to the bare color you really have to look for the wear marks from the rigging... and it looks good at the dock. I think it took two cans to cover two coats on mast and boom. Good Luck.
