OK So I Was Rusty on Panic

Report: outside forum guidelines

With the holiday season upon us I just could not let the nagging feeling that I needed to check on Amethyst sitting on the trailer on our side yard. I had been working on the mast as I am going to put a new jib halyard on.

With this in mind she was outside and not under her cover like always. We have had two major storms here in the Pacific NW but I am thinking no problems.

Xmas day I just can't let it go so I get aboard, open the hatch to find 18 inches of water in the cabin. Seems the deck drains, clogged with fresh leaves, let the water rise to the point it was getting though the hatch boards.

I try the auto bilge pump. (NOTHING)...ok hand pump...(Nothing) go and get the hand pump from the dingy...too short. Ok now panic...as I write this the water is out. The interior is looking like it may have a nice green crop on everything. Sooo..Everything is being pulled out, heaters on and the chemical driers everywhere.

Looking at the bright side....It is a great opportunity to clean up the boat.

Merry Christmas
