My 1981 N24 has developed a mast compression post problem. The problem is that the N24 has no mast compression post. The mast's tabernackel (sp) rests on the deck just over the interior bulkhead that separates the main cabin from the head/V berth area. The mast's compression has buckeled the bulkhead plywood directly underneath, about 1/4 of an inch about. The plywood is now wrinkled at that spot. This doesn't supprise me as the plywood is only 1/2 inch, and plywood has poor compression strength anyway.
This was a design shortcut by Capital. The rest of the boat, I think is pretty well designed, I'm supprised at this shortcut.
Anyway, the question is how to best correct the problem.
Any ideas ??
