I didn't see a rigging section on the website under the manual section. But, I have a manual from my 1978 Neptune, and it shows 1 chainplate (manual calls it the MAIN CHAINPLATE) even with the mast, and 1 forward of the mast (referred to as FORWARD LOWER CHAINPLATE) on each side. Definitely no mention of an aft lower chainplate on the diagram. I gather they may have added the aft lowers on later models? Or, the diagram in the manual is incorrect.
The guys who I bought the boat from said THEY installed the aft lowers, so I am confused! I'd love to see a photo of your shroud chainplates on your deck! I have tried looking at photos of people's boats, but it's hard to accurately gauge where the chain plates are located exactly...
Hmmm. Any other insight into the mystery of the lower shrouds is appreciated!
