Swing keel weight

I would think twice about using a much lighter version of the swing keel. You could compensate for the lost keel weight by adding some weight inside the boat, right by the keel trunk. Also a wood/glass combination keel would be prone to floating, which means adding some sort of keel lock bolt to hold it down. Remember: designers put all that weight there for a reason.
