Mine use to be stuck.

I first sprayed water, with a little detergent, down the pipe to loosen any dirt. Then, when dry, I used A LOT of silicone oil poured down the pipe, and let it sit for a few days, while tapping the post several times a day. Same thing you would do getting a frozen nut loose. Then after still some tugging, it broke free and has been trouble free for 23 years.

I silicone the post about every two years and make sure that no dirt gets down in the hole. (mud dobber wasps had gotten their nest-mud in the post area previously)

This is the second dagger board I have had on this boat. Story is, when I bought the boat used, I noticed that the bottom edge of the board was very flat. Later, upon examination, it appeared that the bottom two or so inches had been cut off the bottom of the board. I wondered why.... the previous owner was long gone so I never really knew. So I bought a new board from Capital (only $45 can you believe, and it included the post). Then, when really getting a good look at the removed old board it became apparent that the bottom two inches was scrapped off... not cut off. But how ???? Answer: the board must have been released by road vibration, when trailering; i. e., the pin vibrated out, so the board dropped down, and the bottom two inches became another centerline, for several feet, on US 50, east of Cincinnati. So, now I have a rope tied to the trailer frame, from side to side, running under the centerboard so if the pin lets loose the rope will catch the board. Also I installed a cleat on the wood casement in front of the post to firmly attached the pin's retaining rope to keep the pin from comming out, in or out of the water.
